Diagnostic Endoscopy

Mr Sumit Midya is a JAG accredited endoscopist who provides a consultant led diagnostic enoscopy service for patients requiring upper and lower gastrointestinal symptoms.

 

He performs the following endoscopic procedures:

1) Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD) or gastroscopy

To investigate reflux, heartburn, swallowing problems, anaemia, upper abdominal pain and weight loss

1) Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD) or gastroscopy

2) Bravo oesophageal pH monitoring

To diagnose gastro-oesophageal acid reflux (done only at Parkside Heatherwood)

2) Bravo oesophageal pH monitoring

3) Flexible sigmoidoscopy

To investigate anorectal bleeding, rectal pain or diarrhoea

3) Flexible sigmoidoscopy

4) Colonoscopy

To investigate change in bowel habit, anaemia, weight loss, lower abdominal pain and lower gastrointestinal bleeding

4) Colonoscopy

Mr Midya perform about 150 colonoscopies, 80 flexible sigmoidoscopies 100 OGDs
and 25 Bravo procedures in a year.

Hernias is a protrusion of abdominal viscera or fat through a weakness in the muscle wall of the abdomen and forms a bulge underneath the skin. 

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a keyhole procedure to remove the gallbladder which is done under general anaesthesia.

Appendicectomy is one of the most commonly performed emergency surgical procedure where the appendix is removed by an open or keyhole approach under general anaesthesia.
